About Us
Cannon Hill Swimming Club is a volunteer-run, community club where kids of all ages improve, compete, and make friends. We focus on personal bests and having fun.
Our purpose
We create a safe, inclusive environment for kids to build confidence in and out of the water. We promote healthy habits, good sportsmanship, and a love of swimming.
What to expect
Friday night racing with music and a BBQ, plus theme nights and carnivals. Parents help run the night; kids cheer each other on.
Our history
In 1961 Roy and Judy Holland opened a 20-metre training pool at their home in Keats Street, Cannon Hill. In 1962, the 25-metre Stanton Street pool became home to the club and training squad—then known as the Cannon Hill Dolphins. In 1974, the Cannon Hill Amateur Swimming Club was officially formed. Roy, father of distance champion Stephen Holland, taught thousands of Brisbane kids to swim. In 1993, Roy passed the reins to his daughter Cathy; the Hollands Swim School remains an important part of our community.
Committee
Our club is run by volunteers. Committee meetings are held roughly every four weeks at the pool. We welcome new ideas and helpers.
